Pass It On Cookbook
The Kalyan's were one of the first Gujarati Indian families to arrive in New Zealand via boat in the 1920’s. With a passion for food, they were taught to cook using their senses rather than following a written recipe, passing their skills and techniques on from one generation to another.
As a way to preserve and share these authentic recipes, Keryn & Shobha Kalyan wanted to create a recipe book that would honour their families treasured recipes and inspire other kiwi's to experience authentic Gujurati cuisine.

Project Overview
Keryn approached me to design an eye-catching book that would honour her families vibrant Indian heritage, whilst also being modern and contemporary.
The book features gold foil embossing on the cover and spine, with an all edge gilt (gold blocking) and gold ribbon bookmark. Utilising a mix of serif and sans-serif typefaces, the 100+ recipes are type set cohesively across 288 pages. Full bleed images allow the photography to take centre stage, while full page colour blocks clearly define each new section. Small flower accents & dotted lines change colour per section to aid with usability and way-finding.
